Mark Cabral is a retired contract who currently lives in Hamilton, WA. He has always had an affinity for working with wood and began creating his own wooden pieces a year ago.

For months, Mark has watched and listened to what has been occurring in the world. From the onset of the coronavirus to various political issues, he became alarmed at the effects these events were having. However, one issue stood out to him above all: the alarming rates of domestic violence caused to the pandemic. Even worse - he realized that nobody was talking about it.

Mark decided to take action.

Using 13 types of wood from all around the world, he created a piece intended to start a

conversation. Mark says, "If I inspire one victim to say 'enough' and come forward, the creation of this piece will have been worthwhile. This country was built on the idea that together we stand, and divided we fall. I have seen that miracles are possible when we stand together. Truly, together we CAN change the world."

Mark reached out to Skagit DVSAS and donated his work to further the cause through a community raffle in hopes that the proceeds would help to serve survivors of violence in Skagit County.

At only $3 a ticket, this raffle is a great opportunity for you to take home a beautiful piece of art for your home. Every ticket you buy increases your chances of winning, and benefits Skagit DVSAS and survivors of violence in Skagit County!
